An adult Mediterranean Gull in breeding plumage, which visited the Black-headed Gull colony at Dosthill and was observed briefly displaying. Note the jet black head compared with the chocolate-brown hood of the Black-headed Gull, the rich red bill with a black subterminal band, the pearly grey upperparts and clear white primary tips. The bird bore a white ring on its left leg. It was also seen at the adjacent Dosthill Lake, in Warwickshire. Later in March and in early April, a second-summer bird was present.
